Thanks for the tip... picked up a Saga 1 for a future system and a Modious black for Headphone system. I was tempted by Freya S, but I'm cheap.

Tubes, VU meters, and black. Sounds like the trifecta for what ya'll looking for reading this thread. I'm sure Jason is working on the prototype now--minus VU meters and the $147K per pair price.

some real design features & technology to go along with the $$$$ price tag: mfr's page indicates a built-in output tube tester; all triode operation, balanced, fully differential gain stage, and switches to turn off selective banks of output tubes when you don't need 500 Wpc. Each amp (upper section) weighs 80 lbs, regulated power supply weighs 152 lbs!!! Probably needs a dedicated 30A 120VAC circuit (the kind that runs an electric stove or all-electric clothes dryer) for each channel.When a tube goes bad, how do you determine which one?

Yup - 84 x 6AS7 tubes by GE is nothing for @bcowenThat many 6AS7's (42 per channel) wouldn't even put a dent in the stash that @bcowen has.
