Yep, they get warm but with A/C register on the floor blowing cool air into my amp its good to go.
Mine goes all the way to 14. Tubes that is. 2 matched Quads of KT88's and 6 x 12AU7's
2 matched quads of 150's may be in my future. I'll set the thermostat to 59 degrees, that should do it.

Don't have these any more (and not my picture), but these 32 tubes put out surprisingly little heat collectively. It was fun matching up 24 output tubes though.

Vali 2 does. Given how much love there is for the combo, I can't imagine Jason would have made that kind of blunder.

I never had a tube go "bad" when I had them. But there was an LED beside each output tube -- as long as it was lit, the tube was working. Wouldn't identify one that had very low emission though unless it was too low to function.

LOL! I'd bet if we took a "Who's using the stock tube" survey of all current Vali 2 owners, the percentage would be in the single digits.

this should work just fine, unless the amplifier has very low impedance xlr inputs. do you have a spec or mfr / model number?

. note that for Jotunheim specifically (which is weakly differential), switching between the XLR and SE inputs may require adjustment of the subwoofer's gain.

Now I understand why Paladin 79 kids you about your tube collection. Fun matching 24 tubes? You must be known as Tubefinger, like Goldfinger except with tubes.

So I really liked the Prima Luna Progue Premium I auditioned. It had el34 tubes and sounded really nice.

But I went with

A Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum (v1).

That Rogue is an amp I had some interest in, possibly for driving my SR1a. 100 watts per channel I think. But the Prima Luna even at just 72 watts per (pentode mode with KT88's) does an admiral job driving the SR1a in addition to my speakers when I want a change from the Jot R. I've had their RH5 HP amp for a couple of years, another nice piece, goes nice with my Phi when I want a change from the SS Formula S.

Yes.. A couple things tipped me in favor of the rogue. The Prima Luna dealer didn't really take the potential sale very seriously. They didn't have the best setup driving it from a Pioneer DVD player.
The Rogue dealer simply put forth the best stereo system I had ever heard. Found out later that he used a $7.5k Naim CDX2 as the front end. So one used a $500 dvd player and the other a $7,000 more expensive CD player. He probably had cables on the system that cost more than that DVD player. (I knew he used Naim interconnects and speaker cable).

Which one sounded better???

Part of me wishes I had gone prima luna because it would be great to be able to swap KT120, and EL34 depending on mood.

Often it does boil down to the various pieces parts in the chain. Since I built my first amp from a kit I've owned a lot of different tube products over the years and with every new tube amp acquisition I always said I wish it had this or I wish it had that. Well, the P/L had everything I could imagine and more except a Hobbs meter. It's got so much sophisticated tech alongside with some old fashion hardware build aspects I just could not resist.
