Years ago (okay, actually many decades ago ), Boeing offered me an engineering job in Seattle after only a brief on-campus interview at school. That was very strange (other companies would also arrange an interview at the job location). I ended up in Silicon Valley instead, but it was tempting. Boeing had a stellar reputation and was one of the glamor companies to work for. However, it seems that Boeing has been losing its way for years. The revelations from the 737 Max disaster and the Starliner test failure are troubling. But man, if Boeing ever starts engineering commercial aircraft or spacecraft here in St. Louis, I would be first in line for that job fair. Maybe when my wife's business is more established we should look at moving to Seattle.

The Seattle area is wonderful. My wife's parents settled there for retirement and we visited many times. However with the tech boom, it is now also among the most expensive regions to live in the US. Not as high as the SF Bay Area, but not far behind.
