Oooh I feel your angst.
Recently the local roads authority added some new large speed restriction signs when you arrive into our local town. Signs on the highway, on both sides, just to be sure that everyone knows they need slow down. Problem is, I immediately noticed different fonts on the left and right signs. Drives me crazy every time I drive past. There are two signs at each end of the town, and 1 out of the 4 signs is different.

I couldn't help myself. I also seem to suffer from a bit of OCD, but mine is coupled with a lack of impulse control!!

is the difference in sound between "high" and "low" gain settings on Asgard 3 as noticeable as it is on Asgard2?

From Schiit spec sheets...

Asgard 3 Gain: High = 6 (15.6dB) or Low = 1 (0dB)
Asgard 2 Gain: High = 6 (15.6db) or Low = 1.5 (3.5db)

Sorry, no I don't.

The Asgard 2 specs are in the manual located here: https://www.schiit.com/public/upload/PDF/asgard_2_owners_manual_1_3.pdf
It shows only output impedance (2 ohms) w/ no reference to gain and no output impedance spec is listed.

Asgard 3 specs are on the Schiit site and it shows output impedance as <.2 ohms (low or high) and input impedance of 22 ohms.

I could never own their products. The kerning on their DAC display makes the word MAIN look like "MAI N". Not only does that offend me as a graphic designer and font nerd, but that lack of attention to detail makes me wonder what else they may have overlooked in their design.

If we can escalate equipment measurements into a life or death battle of wills ... So, hey, anytime I see that kerning, FYI the gear sounds 42.8% better. I mean it's just science.

• New York, especially "Last Great American Whale" and "Great Adventure"
• "Sex With Your Parents" (hate his politics, love the groove)
• "NYC Man" (can't imagine why anyone would want to be, but at least eight million disagree with me...)
