Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Not to slight your local businessman, but North Carolina barbeque is so superior to Texas barbeque that any attempted comparison is simply frivolous. :)
Oh. Okay.

Right now I only have the LCD 2 and I don't think that will change soon. I'm not really interested in the Ragnarok for the power but the two balanced inputs.

If you're using the SE output for those phones, wouldn't a Mjolnir be a good fit? Or do those two balanced inputs trump everything else?

Whoah. There's cheaper options. That Ragnarok will drive whatever you need (headphones, free standing speakers, dunno). It'd be overkill for me. Re: your desire for 2 balanced inputs. How about the Mojnir? I'm all kitted out with Schiit's smaller boxes; however, if I were to set up another listening nook, it'd be a (Gungnir-MB [link] + Mjolnir [link]) pairing. And then, I'd go all hog-wild with XLR patch cables & such. Meh, my 2 cents.

{{{edit... aaaand I looked at an image of the I/O panel of the Mjolnir. It has only 1 balanced input. So it wouldn't work for you. Perhaps there's an erie XLR switch box available you could pick up}}}

I am currently using the Lyr 2 and I love it, so yes Mjolnir 2 is high on my list. I would like to run my Gumby balanced into the headphone amp to the LCD 2. I'd also like to use my headphones with my analogue setup, but I only have a spare balanced out on my phono pre, so I would prefer two balanced inputs on the headphone amp.

I’m a dry rub guy so I don’t buy much bbq sauce.

I don't sauce my ribs but I sure do like it on my pulled pork and occasionally on brisket.

run SE from the Gungnir to either Jotunheim or Mjolnir 2, XLR connection will be 6dB louder than the SE for same position on the volume dial, but not necessarily worlds better. @Jason Stoddard has said that the Gungnir and Yggdrasil SE outputs still retain the benefits of the hardware balanced DAC chips via the summer/buffer FETs.

use the XLR inputs for your phono pre (balanced connection there should have improved hum rejection, which is more critical with low-output MM or MC cartridges.

if you NEED to go XLR from DAC to HP Amp, there were some very nice switchboxes that Schiit used for the Magni 3+/Heresy/Vali 2 amp shootout (dec 2019 or jan 2020)

Diary of a Mad ScubaMan: I'm switching back and for between my Valhalla 2 and Asgard 2, listening to Every Breath You Take (The Police [no fancy HD re-master or re-issue... just their original CD ripped to FLAC via EAC] just the lower 2 frequencies perked up by my Loki EQ]). That juicy bass intro... Is there a difference?! What the hell IS the difference?! It's on the TIP OF MY BRAIN! Arrrggggg. :deadhorse:

...and then THAT track recorded in Montreal comes next (Everything Little Thing She Does Is Magic).

Your highly caffeinated public (WITH the "L", thank you very much) servant in the York Region District School Board,
SM :flag_ca:

not much difference between the two amps. both run hot enough to sizzle when you pour bbq sauce on them (although one makes an 'sssss' sound and the other is mor like 'fffff') :)

I've heard mesquite is the superior choice for SQ, but that may be the Texan in me talking. Maybe I just like the smoky flavor it adds to my blues. :)

Here in Georgia pecan is my new fave wood. Peach trees are yesterdays wood.

Maple is supposed to be a better choice for sound but I prefer solid cherry for the looks.

So adding timber adds timbre...nice to know.
