Odd, because I've never had any problem getting to ear-bleeding levels on Jotunheim R with the SR1a, definitely above a Vidar into the resistor box.

With respect to a more powerful box, anything's possible--for several times the price, and in a much larger physical size. There are currently no plans for this.

If you can come up with something equivalent to two vidars (400W) at the size of a single vidar, with built in volume control (remote?) and vidar heat sinks, then i won't mind paying USD1800-2100 for it.
I'm running my SR1a with two vidars and a freya S, with a 12 inch box fan for cooling. The hassle i could save on space, cooling, cables, power consumption and sockets would be well worth it, not to mention the improvement in sound quality. So go for it.
