Posted before I realized there was another 2 pages on switch-gate on the thread I hadn't caught up on.

Thankfully Mr. Moffat stepped in. Can everyone interested in switches please start a new thread on the merits/demerits of switch positions leave this thread alone. SHEESH!!

But, who would read it?

You could always post it in the Sound Science forum and start WWIII.

Hey, let's do it...........

New Schiit releases shouldn't have any power switches anywhere, even in alternate dimensions.

They should be voice activated instead with a 2 part code. The first part of the code is your voice. For the second part, the Schiit product will access all the posts to check if you are talking about knobs, switches, baba yogi, cosmic rays and tachyons causing sound degradation etc. If you're talking about any of this, it will shut down and emit smoke just to scare you. That should take care of all current and future c**p.

Mike & Jason: make this happen!!

Two better alternatives would be to have them :-
1. Switched on by photon hitting a detector a la Schringer's thought experiment. You wouldn't know if the unit was on or off until you tried to listen to it.
2. Subject the position of the switch to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle. You could never be sure where the switch was located to operate it.

Fun and games as well as good sounding gear to be had by all owners.

What's not to like..??

OK, this should be the end of it. No mas.

Schiit could shorten it to "the Clap."  "Mike started designing DACs next to a porn movie studio, and now our gear has the Clap!"

Just trying to figure out what piece of gear might be dubbed "the Fluffer."

Frank Zappa can supply the theme song for the movie.

Agreed. I'd love to see a documentary on Schiit. It would be a great story for people to see. 60 Minutes would eat it up. People love seeing successful american start-ups. Jason is basically the embodiment of the American Dream. Making quality products at home and not doing it to get stupid rich.

So I built Bifrosts, Gungnirs, Modis, Ubers, all the Schiit Digital Stuff for me. What kind of stuff do I like?? Simple, good sounding, and ready to go anytime. Since I make digital stuff, which quantitatively requires warmup time so everything settles to the fewest number of LSBs (least significant bits) and reaches equilibrium. When I put my cans on, I want music NOW.

As a non-engineer, I am curious about your comment about warming your gear up.  Could you explain why?  I have a Bifrost Uber feeding an original Lyr.  I get (or at least I think I do) why tubes may need to be warmed up, but how are digital devices like the Birfost affected?  Thanks.

The linearity/sensitivity of any electrical component is affected by temperature because of physical reasons. Especially semiconducting devices used in digital electronics.

Digital IC's are not operated with great linearity in mind, they are working with ones and zeros whose voltages are far enough from thresholds such that any linear effects due to tempeature/warmup/etc. are not of concern. Perhaps he's more concerned (OCD) with clocks (oscillators) stabilizing or other linear (audio) circuits operating at their best bias points. Perhaps he's calibrated his analog circuits for best operation at a specific temperature. Or he's just pulling our legs.
