Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Danny Gatton is another local-ish boy for you. Unfortunately, also no longer with us (1994, sad story).
We lost a lot of great musicians in the '90s

My parents had one of those. It was electric (only) as best I remember but it had the downdraft that worked extremely well, and in fact way better than I thought it possibly could. I'd take one of those any day over a typical overhead hood arrangement.

Perhaps because I’ve spent 30 years or so working in or around commercial kitchens, I will only have a gas range and only have an exhaust hood that pulls hard into the outer air as deal breakers in any home. If a down draft exhaust is enough to prevent your smoke detectors from wailing, your pans aren’t hot enough.

I like my gas cooker, but am becoming more interested in induction cooktops having tried a few. Very responsive, even more than gas. If I had to replace my stove right now, I'm not sure which I'd pick. And yes to having hot enough pans. I think it's scares people so they don't push hard enough with the heat when needed.

You need to watch the Netflix series!

1) Maybe......
2) only at Monaco, rest are more open.
3) Ten teams (with debates for another US based)

Watch a few races.

Hi All - a couple of Lola wind tunnel models - furthest back was the Lola proposed replacement for the Dw12 Indycar - nearest would have been the 2014 Lola MB1 f1 entry - yellow bodywork is full size F3 Lola/Dome car - Pictures taken whilst I was working on a Gravity Racer project that was being constructed out of hours in the composites shop

Not me! NASCAR all the way. F1 is pretty much a boring exercise at least for me. Since I don't follow too much, I have no clue if my impressions are correct.

1) Qualifying #1 gives you a huge advantage
2) Whoever makes it to/thru the first turn in 1st place on the first lap has an enormous advantage that often times holds throughout the race.... BORING
3) There are very few racing teams. It's extremely rare for a lesser team to win by beating the "big boys"

Correct me if I'm incorrect. Maybe with proper education I may enjoy this type of expensive, cutting edge technology, but oh so uncompetitive racing

Leo
Hi Leo - love Nascar as well as F1 - worth watching the Baku F1 race thos weekend- so far 5 races at venue , 5 different winners and 10 different podium places - usually a bonkers race !!

Speaking of using Syn in a HT setup, I assume the use of an HDMI audio extractor is required - one with pass-through for the video signal. The last time I looked at these they ranged in price from stupid cheap (and questionable quality) to stupid expensive. After the Schittr shoot-out setup is determined, can someone comment on what device was chosen and how it performed?
You can use the TV instead.

Syn arrived today and thinking I received one of the LTD edition top plates since it doesn't match the photos on the website (which I assume have been updated)
...
Safe to assume that contacting orders@schiit.com is still the proper thing to do?
Kind of always wanted a Schiit t-shirt, just didn't think this was going to be the way it was going to happen ...
Wanted to give a brief follow-up to my LTD edition Syn chassis replacement experience.

Within a couple of emails I had:
- A FedEx return label along with return instructions
- The "Schiit Happens" T-shirt was on it's way

The day after I dropped the original Syn off at FedEx I received an update stating that a replacement Syn was on the way!
- T-shirt arrived and I wore it proudly to the Western NC SchiitMeet
- My new Syn arrived and is doing it's Syn-ful thing in a small 2-channel (soon to be 3-channel) setup replacing an aging Yamaha that was never used to it's full potential to begin with

I cannot say enough good things about Schiit support and Alx (no "e") in particular for getting my Syn situation straightened out

These days I have mixed feelings about F1. It is far better than all the alternatives, but is still a long ways from being good. I mean, who the hell wants to watch cars drive in circles?! I watch every F1 race but these days I would rather watch MotoGP. Close racing, multiple teams can win, truly brave and skilled riders. Just don't even think about Formula E! Talk about doing everything wrong possible and that is F E.
Speaking of F1 (and Indy etc), let’s see them try going ‘clockwise’ around the track. 🤪

My son lives in N. California and even though it's not exactly hot there it's not exactly cold either. I asked him how often he actually uses the fireplace(s) in his house. He said they hang the kids Xmas stockings from the mantle once a year. Uh huh, so why not move the TV down in front of it so it's at the right viewing height? "But that would cover the fireplace!" he said.
You've a son with great logic!

I grew up (starting in the early '80s) watching pretty much all things motorsports. F1, NASCAR, Indy, MotoGP, Motocross, NHRA, Monster trucks, Swamp Buggies, etc... If it was on TV and there was an engine attached to it and they were racing them I would watch it! Between these I've attended well over 100 races over the years.

Even though I wasn't a fan of his I pretty much quit watching NASCAR weekly after Earnhardt was killed at Daytona, and stopped almost all together (other than an occasional road race) when they started the chase and stage BS.

F1 has steadily been going downhill since they did away with the V8's, I haven't attended a race since, and probably never will again. I do still watch every race though.

NHRA ticked me off a few years back and I haven't watched or attended one of their races since 2015.

MotoGP and the lower classes are probably the best racing there is you can still watch, it's a shame it's not easily accessible anymore though.
