Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

You should watch the second Youtube video I posted, he talks about various brands of tubes including GE and Foton. His knowledge of Melz is lacking and he does not have a 1578 version. I stopped counting the number of things I disagreed with after at least four such statements. :ksc75smile:
I almost quit watching when he stated the GE GTA and GTB were nice sounding tubes. Compared to what? An AM clock radio? But I quit watching altogether after his statement that the standard (non-hole plate) Melz was a successor to the hole plate 1578. I know, I know....he said it on the internet so it must be true. Except it's not. :laughing:

I do believe he has some Electroharmonix in the mix as well as Nevz tubes. I did not catch the date on the Foton but you have to remember he is a tube seller and maybe wanting to unload some GE's. I am not so sure anything made our top 52 except for maybe the RCA 5692 and Sylvania bad boy 3 hole plate perhaps. I cannot watch it a second time to find out lol. I do use lesser tubes in the buffer stage on a Freya + but not GE quality lesser. :ksc75smile:

I have a Sony Dream Machine clock radio that sounds quite nice with A.M., BTW. If I could just get it to stop flashing '12:00' it would be perfect. :unamused:

None at all; Freya S uses Nexus topology for input gain stage. The Freya + does not. Nexus offers unbalanced <==> balanced with no N, N+1 issues, read more here:
I’m considering dumping my Freya + and switching it with a Freya S. The + sounds brilliant without the tubes and I’d imagine the nexus S might be even more glorious. Plus tubes are expensive and can be frustrating (this is why I dumped my vinyl habit).

Radio = Amplitude Modulation.

Clock = AM so I haven't been getting much sleep lately. :rolling_eyes:

And he pronounced Novosibirsk incorrectly, but I'm not one to nitpick. :smile:

LOL! I remember that too. Of course it didn't achieve its full potential until you added a piece of rainbow foil to all your CDs and (especially) LPs. :laughing:

A GE? That’ll put anyone to sleep, if not with soothing tones then at least if you whack them on the head with it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
