Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I was making some instant noodles recently that had the following instructions:
Boil 600 ml of water
Add noodles and cook for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
Pour out water until only 7 tablespoons remain.
Add sauce pack and return to low heat for 30 seconds.
That's funny. BTW, 7 Tbs (nearly 1/2 cup) is approximately 105 ml, in case you're still waiting to finish cooking those noodles.

I have made them twice now and did figure out those equivalent amounts. I am just amused about how I am supposed to measure the liquid volume when the noodles are still in the pot. Unless I am to dump the noodles into a colander and then pour out the water until the right amount is left and add the noodles back.

“But Modius Maximus is clearly a Roman-influenced name,” the more pedantic will bleat. “That doesn’t exactly fit with your Norse-inspired naming scheme, bub!”

Yes, sir, you are 100% correct. It’s a mess. It’s all mixed up.

But this is also coming from:
  1. A company named “Schiit.”
  2. People who get most of their Norse mythology from comic books and Wikipedia.
  3. Guys who thought it would be funny to call their cables PYST and used Cthulhu as a pet name for an AC adapter.

ROFL!

But I got my Norse mythology from Neal Gaiman, and that's somewhere between comic books and real books!

[ducking for cover; hey, I'm a graphic novel fan, too!]

Eating ramen because sometimes I feel lazy and do not feel like making oxtail on polenta with some sauteed root vegetables.

I treat food like I do music: different formats and style for different moods. Sometimes I like the time consuming ritual of vinyl. Sometimes I like the convenience of MP3 files. Sometimes I like esoteric reel to reel. It is all good.
