Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Schiit, I found the four tubes of the Valhalla 2 uncomfortably hot for South Florida. I guess you blast your AC or like feeling like you're in a sauna?

Physical comfort is irrelevant in the quest for audio nirvana. Come on Rick. You obviously haven't had your coffee yet.

Top plate needs more patina (aka Rust).

With rust a can might become an objet d'art and gain value. I figured I could just have someone follow Bill around and wait for him to open his car door and collect whatever falls out. I figure with recycling prices, I could easily break even on this project or come out ahead.

I should probably pace myself, I have a Christmas party later.

And time is a relative thing, it is after ten AM here.

I do plan to borrow one thing from Schiit technology and mount the on off switch on the back. I would say after five or six good shocks Bill will just leave the amp on all the time.

Filmed in Indianapolis...guessing Tom was there!

Not to go off-topic here ( :relaxed: ) but Buffet's music has never been a first pick to just sit down and listen to (for me). But his concerts? What a total blast! He used to play every year at an outdoor amphitheater when I lived in Raleigh (don't know if he still does), and we'd always get a group together and rent a limo knowing full well none of us would be able to drive when the concert party was over. :relaxed:

Very true, now as far as appearance, I plan on sparing no expense. I am searching for just the right materials for the top plate.

And the, um, wooden base...

I may not use point to point wiring since that involves solder and soldering but i will figure out some method. Wire wrap, clothes pins, paper clips, I have all kinds of possible options. My budget for this project is $19.95, about the price of a Popeil Pocket Fisherman.

Here is a visual aid.... think something like this:

I don't know how many people remember that the Yugo factory also produced some very nice vacuum tubes, as well as their famous (infamous?) compact car. I ran an octet of Yugo KT-90's daily in my Quicksilver V-4's for over 10 years. A really nice sounding tube.

EDIT-

There was a story that NATO bombed the Ei tube factory during Yugoslav wars, nearly doubling the price instantly of remaining EI tubes.

The part about the factory being bombed was found to be untrue. However the part about the price increase was very true .

Great info and very nice recognition on the car!!
