Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have no idea how big the Roon market is. I tried it and saw no plusses for me. It worked fine.
My Auralic Arius G2 and Lightning DS works extremely well in my system.
My knowledge of and about any linux thingy is limited to the installment of an Odroid HC-2 (Music)NAS with Linux. It was a hell for me and I'm very glad it works now.
I know there are a lot of linux specialists here but I'd rather do another 149 (my prof score) child births. Much much easier although the sound quality can be a spot of bother.

I use a sonicTransporter i5 and an ultraRendu endpoint....both of which are Linux-based but I don't have to touch them. In fact, there is no way from me to get to the Linux. I get the advantages of the Linux OS without the downsides. I manage both devices via a web interface that lets me update, install, and remove software from the systems. Best of both worlds.....

There are still some of us who prefer sound quality over convenience. Personally, I'm sticking with my vinyl and CDs. YMMV and I can live with that and your secret laugh.

It's called sarcasm......you can argue that vinyl sounds better than CDs. But, there is no way CD transports sound better than ripped tracks...equal..yes.

I'm far too ignorant to say something sensible about Linux. I know it works well but I'm not proficient in any way with it.
My loss maybe.
I just looked up the sonicTransponder. Had I chosen for that I would have a far bigger say in the looks of my transporter.
I see one can (or has to) build the hardware themselves. Missed chance there.

No, with the sonicTransporter it is built for you and the case choices are made based on which version you get...not personal preference.

I am a huge linux geek. Linux is nearly the software backbone on almost all information systems. Sometimes it just doesn't look like it. And some people make a living on enabling ease of use.

Now for software its worth the price. It takes a lot of consideration and insight on how it will work and limitations. Just like many enginnering fields.

Personally I just use what works for me, sometimes i make my own, sometimes I support someone who makes a great product just like in audio.

I remember Mister Stoddard commenting on the robustness of the existing design (a user asked about the repairability of the Asgard 2, and @Jason Stoddard mused that they rarely return back for servicing). Other than some tweaks, what additional features could they add to that solid state headphone amp?

I'm not trying to be snotty, @Pedro Janeiro . My new toy (Valhalla 2, driving my HD650 clone) is making me very happy. And my trusty rusty Magni3's sits in my listening nook on cold-standby. My tricked-out Vali2 remains primed and ready. What advancements in the Asgard-platform would make it a worthwhile purchase?

Hi Scuba,

Well i really dont know, cause i never heard Asgard 2 (actually i only listen Woo wa 2), i was just asking cause i want a SS amp, and probably Jotunheim will be to bright to use with Grados.
So my doubt right now is between freya/Saga+Aegir+Asgard 2 / 3 or jotunheim, or just Rag 2, thats why im asking. i need make choices very soon
Cheers!

Pedro
