Life = Math

Nice, deep, subject to read...looks like 824 pages of entertainment

''Professor Hofstadter's presentation of these ideas is not rigorous, in the mathematical sense, but all the essential steps are there; the reader is not asked to accept results on authority or on faith. Nor is the narrative rigorous in the uphill-hiking sense, for the author is always ready to take the reader's hand and lead him through the thickets. Someone seeking no more than an introduction to Gödel's work would probably do better to look into a little book published 20 years ago by Ernest Nagel and James R. Newman, "Gödel's Proof," which is just as clear and thorough and is only one percent as long. But Douglas Hofstadter's book is a more ambitious project. It is also a more pretentious one. To accompany each expository chapter, the author has provided a whimsical dialogue cast in the form of a Bach composition. For example, one dialogue has the form of a canon cancrizans, which is the same when read forward or backward. Some may find these interludes amusing. For my part, I was strongly reminded that the challenge of writing such a piece is not in throwing the melodies together according to rule, but in making music of them.''

From goodreads.com : ''If life can grow out of the formal chemical substrate of the cell, if consciousness can emerge out of a formal system of firing neurons, then so too will computers attain human intelligence.'' I'd say that is scary and interesting at the same time...perhaps The Gadget is the start of human intelligent Schiit :)

So, do we get rave reviews? Technical and drool-worthy details? Or even a no Schiit description in a gripping new chapter?

Looks like my Yggy is going for a ride soon.
Yggies travelling globally with the speed of light (if connected with optical, what I've to do if I had an Yggy) ... my wallet can't decide...don't know if the new situation is better for an investment decision :)

Question is when do we get a chapter about it? Or is that for Mike to write?
good point. Mike is taking care of the digital schiit part. Jason the analog. So I wonder who designed this upgrade, Mike had the SQ comments on it...

No reviews or impressions yet!? WTH!
LOL, just kidding.
I don't need Gen 5 but if I send it in for analog upgrade I'd add it in anyway.
But a chapter on what the Analog upgrade is all about would be neat.
