I've been on a bit of a Chic Corea binge.
His catalog is so vast, most of it excellent, that you can wade in those waters for a very long time. One of my favorites. A huge regret is that I never had the chance to see him play live. I've mentioned before that I sold off my first record collection once my daughter was born to help buy needed essentials, but I kept perhaps a dozen records which I simply couldn't give up, three of which featured Chick, My Spanish Heart, Return to Forever's Romantic Warrior, and Bitches Brew by Miles Davis. I also found a cheap used copy of Children's Songs and I played that over and over again for my daughter during the first three years of her life. I was rather underemployed in those years, and I ended up spending a lot of time as a stay-at-home dad. Some of our hardest years--given how little we had--but also some of the most fulfilling despite the hardships. Every time I hear the that album now, I am flooded with memories of my little girl. Priceless.

Then you don't want to omit this:

[Solid State: recorded May, 1968; released December, 1968.] With Miroslav Vitous on double-bass, Roy Haynes on drums -- this is gripping !!

@jonathan c Superb recommendation. It's a remarkable record, even more remarkable that it is his debut.

Correction: I just realized it is his second release. Whoops! (Still darn remarkable. )

Nice! I had one as a company car back in the day, too. I managed to wrangle a sportier trim since that was the only one that had the seat extension my long ass legs needed. Red and everything.
"Mine" is decently equipped. The main things it doesn't have are heated seats+wheel (could live without that), LED headlights (a bit bigger of a drawback, as factory incandescents aren't great) and a backup camera (I had to install a wireless one myself... huge drawback, as it's a 4.7m long wagon!). It's a good car for commuting, since it's comfortable, has CarPlay, is very fuel efficient (4.6-4.8L/100km on average, and I sometimes have a traffic-induced heavy foot) and has a manual transmission (don't like DCT/autos, as you have a thing less to do when driving and can lead to more distractions). I wouldn't mind 20-30 more horsetorques, though!
I must be part Italian.
Love Pasta :ballot_box_with_check:
Love Pizza :ballot_box_with_check: (Even did a course in Napoli before buying a wood fired oven)
Must be Espresso :ballot_box_with_check:
Napoli is awesome, so is Firenze/Toscana :ballot_box_with_check:

And I'm right with you on the music - even travelled from Australia to Amsterdam in December to see Within Temptation. :)🤘
Wait, I check all those boxes too. My only aberation is that I prefer Napa Cabs and not Chianti. Oh, and tequila of course cause I AM a California boy.
You either have Italian ancestors (mostly joking, but who knows?), or just like great food and coffee!

And for Timster, yeah, I read about that. Must have been an epic show!

When I read that full article it further proves my point: they literally *intentionally* replaced physical controls with screen controls, as stated in the article.

Nope. Minimal (and using screens to replace physical/tactile) controls are NOT the answer. For me.

Proper ergonomics (to me anyways) means that all controls that might be used by the driver on a frequent basis should be PHYSICAL. Screens are fine (duh) for infotainment, but not operation. Taking ones eyes off the road is dangerous AF. Proper layout coupled with proper physical switch/knob layout and implementation is the answer.

It’s stereotypical to blame driver use of cell phones causing accidents; making the ā€œphoneā€ bigger fixes NOTHING in that regard (makes it worse because now there are more ā€œuse casesā€). Now perhaps, if they could get to 100% HUD coupled with low power lasers reading ones eye focus and having some sort of ā€œselectā€ button on the wheel (or the like), might be better. (ā€œDo what I’m looking at in the HUDā€, as it were…)

Is that proto Mini interior COOL LOOKING? Absolutely. But looks/design that isn’t what I complain about. Last year out in Phoenix on vacation, I rented the big ass new BMW crossover X5 with that ginormous screen for EVERYTHING. It took me 10 minutes just to adjust the climate control and mirrors! Was it cool to have google maps so big? Sure. But It was terrifying (in traffic) to try and use climate control, let alone the nav system. I *hated* it.

For reference, the old pre-screen/trackpad Audi interiors were just about perfect (for me) from the 90’s through early/mid oughts; No ā€œscreensā€, excellent layout, excellent feel/weight/hapticness, etc. Could drive any road, any time, any condition, and never have to NOT be looking at the road and surroundings.

Here in New England, most driving is done on narrow, twisty roads. We have a lot of call to use the climate system in a dynamic way. Taking the eyes off the road to switch to an immediate need for, say, defrosting because you went around a bend and immediately fogged up to faff with a screen is BAD. Long cross-country drives with (semi)auto control driving, totally different thing.

What’s funny to me is that some manufacturers got it so RIGHT, and then went stupid, and then (finally) are starting to come back around. Example: 2004 - 2010 Toyota/Lexus were quite excellent in that balance. (Well, one small complaint with my Lexus LS is that to control the climate I *must* use the screen for some functions like changing fan speed - which is DUMB). Then Toyota went ā€œcheapā€ on interiors (materials and controls) and we got abominations like the half-ass interiors on the ā€˜teens models. E.g. 2013-15 Venza, and the ever breeding screens on the Lexii…. Fortunately they’re moving back in the right direction.

This isn’t old man yelling at clouds curmudgeonry; it is about safety. Call me old fashioned.

This am is Modhouse Tungstens and Mjolnir 3.
Some think MJ3 wont drive the Tungstens well at all.
IMO they are not correct!! LOL!

Wonderful pairing here....
Pix later.

Always nice to know that I have not fully experienced the limits of what the Mjolnir 3 can do. Can't wait to hook up the Caldera Open to it once I make that purchase later this year (Valhalla 3 will get a turn with those as well). :L3000:

I'm a 6 foot, 290lbs gorilla and I fit into the ND just fine. ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
The USA is a big market for the MX-5, Mazda knows what they're doing.
I am 6’1ā€ and 220 lbs and I would not be comfortable driving the MX-5 without the special seat lowering rails. But, we all have different leg/torso proportions.
