Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

You must never have had an Asgard 2. That thing could actually cook an egg, or warm up your beverage for you! I'm serious though, it gets extremely hot. So does Valhalla 2 for that matter...
I have both (A2 is one of my favourites and in regular rotation still). I never found that a larger air gap on the bottom reduced temps significantly (using a non-contact thermometer). I don’t stack them on top of (or under) other components, though. Each to their own!

I used to use Asgard 2 as a coffee warmer when on. I sold it to a friend. It was a great amp.

Oklahoma just throwin' out knighthoods in cereal boxes these days? 😉 🤪 🤣
They're available next to the driver's license counter at Wal Mart. 🤣

They're available next to the driver's fishing and Hunting license counter across from the medical marijuana kiosk (which is actually a refurbished cigarette machine from the 70's.) and adjacent to the 'A Night with Cleo' slot machine. 🤣
FTFY. It is Oklahoma after all.

Actually, FDR took the US off the gold standard in 1933. Not only off the gold standard, but made it illegal for citizens to own gold.

In 2008, UCLA economist stated FDR's policies prolonged the Great Depression by 7 years.
There are differing theories,
“ No, FDR's decision to remove the United States from the gold standard, by issuing Executive Order 6102, is generally considered to have helped alleviate the Great Depression by allowing the government to increase the money supply, which was previously restricted by the gold standard, and thus stimulate the economy; therefore, it did not add to the depression, but rather may have helped to ease its severity.”

Under the gold standard, the amount of money the government could print was limited by its gold reserves.

“By acts of Congress in 1933, including the Gold Reserve Act and the Silver Purchase Act of 1934, the domestic economy was taken off the gold standard and placed on the silver standard for the first time.”

This is what caused me to recall we were on a silver standard after gold.🤪

…and it’s not like any of this stuff gets THAT hot. (I do NOT have either Folkvangr nor Mjolnir 3)…
Rag 1. There is no way I will understand the choice of those dinky little feet on that amp. Not a problem on the Rag 2 (although I still changed the feet to my custom Duro 70 washer Sorb/stainless fender washer triple decker. However on the 1, on a solid shelf its got to be up at least another 3/4" minimum, so that the internals don't start clicking due to excess heat build up.

Love that blue turntable! 🩵
I do like the two tone. Photos came from EBay, the refurbed 318’s can fetch decent prices, on average $2k or so. I want to do tiger maple but I may do a combination.

Time to get busy with an audio rack, we have two days of warm weather before it becomes brass monkey cold again.

I live about seventeen miles from New Hope. What is the name of that audio store? And the ice cream place?
Oh, geez, I haven't been to that ice cream store in 30y! The brain cells with its name have longed ago succumbed to alcohol poisoning :-D

The audio store is usedcable.com and its associated stores. Last time I looked, there was also a physical record store in New Hope.

Very adjacent to Sir Gawain, maybe @Paladin79 is his Green Knight.
Sorry but wrong country of origin. Paladins pertain to Charlemagne.

“In the 8th century, the paladins were the most important warriors in Charlemagne's court. They were also known as the Twelve Peers.
The word "paladin" comes from the Latin word palatine, which means "servant" or "government official".
The most famous story of the paladins is The Song of Roland, which tells of Roland's heroic death at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass.” 🤪

That was a rumor for the Ben Franklin when we used to visit that wine store in Camden, but it never happened (to us at least). That store had some amazing dry Alsatian Rieslings, I still miss them.
Mmmm Rieslings.😉

Also from Alsace
The card game Euchre originated in Alsace, France as the game Juckerspiel. German-speaking immigrants brought the game to North America in the early 19th century.
