I do like Mogami, quality product! Enough said Oh and the rule of three still applies, two twelve gauge combined equals nine gauge. That is as technical as I care to be.
Music and streaming subscriptions make complete sense to me. I'm one of those weirdos who actually prefer to lease their content over owning it. I'm not very likely to re-watch TV shows or almost all movies more than once, so it's a much more interesting value proposition to me to lease access to large libraries rather than buying small amounts of content. But that's just me.
Because of my professional background, I also do have some (albeit limited) sympathy for software houses of any size that feel the pressure to take the subscription route for their offerings. I don't like it, but I get it. (I can get into this topic in a bit more detail at some point if there's interest and when I have more time.)
Please excuse the crude language, but this is all I have to say to this and similarly brain-dead attempts by corporate accountants and board members at first screwing their customers for their money and then their shareholders for their stake's value:
Wow, I read that story and you have to (admire?) recoil from the brazen outrageousness of BMW's cash grab! So in tune with the times, right?
At one level I don't have tons of sympathy for BMW or Mercedes owners generally as I imagine many or most can afford it, but charging for use of a feature you've already purchased as part of the vehicle is next level...
There will be "blood and guts" as well as Forkbearded products. They don't need to be mutually exclusive.
Caveat: this doesn't mean Valhalla 3 will be simple or stupid. It'll still be the "completely modern tube headphone amp," with all the advanced features, performance, and protection you need. The thing is, it doesn't have a motorized pot, a relay ladder volume control, or a microprocessor. So it's not an easy bolt-on operation.
Roon has been a little on the expensive side for me for what I would currently get out of it but as I am somewhat rapidly building up a robust library of downloaded albums I feel that will change and that Roon will definitely start making sense for me.
Usually for me it is sport subscriptions so I can see all IU and NFL games but I stop those when the seasons are over. I keep getting a subscription to Cat Chronicles and no matter how many times I stop it, there it is again.
Very cool, maybe in the spring I can build more mini speakers. I am down to Adam’s build, a couple tile related builds, and one last build for a couple of twins.
I moved to Affinity to avoid that (well at least for now anyway... ) ... as didn't use PS for anything serious or work.
I do keep an Office 365 sub going to keep up to date and for the cloud storage. My wife uses OneNote extensively for menus, recipes, lists of all sort etc, so there's some value for us.
And for streaming I will pay to not have ads. If there's no choice but to have ads as well, then no business from me.
Yes! I do it all the time. In the upper right corner of the post you want to bookmark, just right-click on the "Post #xxxx of xxxx" link to get the menu below that gives you the Bookmark option.
Buying a new cell phone soon, I'm checking which ones have the least amount of bloatware and how easy it is to get rid of what it has it as high priority.
I can think of many reasons, but will not steal @Bowmoreman 's thunder. One very good reason is to honor the lost sailors of the SMS Bismarck in May 1941. RRegardless of their political affiliations, they fought and died as seamen in an honorable manner. This deserves recognition by all.
There is a silver option now. Reach out to Schiit and they will quote you a Skoll silver case top only. I've purchased tops from Schiit to go from Black to Silver GHorns and Silver to Black Bifrost 2s. They've always been super helpful.
Note: They do not list it on their site as an upgrade. One must ask nicely.
