Hi guys, I'm back. Thanks for noticing me. <g>

Yessir, you are absolutely correct, and the Tyren never even get warm. The 804 D3s can be a bit bright, but I'm taming that with 1.) careful speaker positioning, 2.) room treatments and 3.) Loki Max (when all else fails).

Also I can not stress the value of well-placed room treatments. I usually run with four ASC 16x3 TubeTraps; 2 in the corners behind the speakers and subs, and two of them positioned against the room's sidewalls at the speaker's first reflection point. I pulled them out of main listening room last weekend while cleaning, and the sound went to hell immediately. The bass got boomy and the midrange got congested. The high-end sparkle and "air" that this this system normally delivers simply collapsed.

It sounded like the room suddenly got 2 feet narrower. Why? In my experience, the TubeTraps don't just cancel boom, but they also add apparent "air" to the room through careful (rotational) alignment of their treble-range diffuser side. Simply turning the traps to align the diffuser-side makes my room sound "wider". (of course... YMMV)

I put them back in their places and... wow. Back to sounding great!

I wouldn't have believed any of this if I hadn't heard it. I couldn't believe the difference. But I digress. I have a lot of pages to get through!
Welcome back! :smiley_cat:

$830 for a lifetime subscription is definitely a big up-front ask - basically paying for 5.5 years straight up, but then it's free after that, I guess. That's a long-game move...

Roon Arc seems very cool though I'm sure it'd be downsampling any DSD files I'd want to make mobile, yeah?
I got in at $499. It was well worth it. I probably wouldn't do $830. But that is me and my spending habits.

For a single zone I absolutely wouldn't do it.

I don't do DSD, but you can select if you want to download lossless or lossy. Since I am running offline when I am flying I allow it to do lossy to my phone.

:smirk_cat:

I thought cables don't matter?

:smile_cat:
Within reason.🤪 They were talking cheap cable compared to something that is high strand count with some interesting properties because of how the individual strands are insulated and share the surface of the cable.

No thanks to the lifetime or monthly subscription. I'm not going to renew Audirvana when it comes up for renewal next year either. I recently bought a WiiM Pro that connects to the DLNA server on my NAS, and its phone/iPad app works flawlessly. I'll pick up another WP for my headphone stack and I'm set for playing my local library. Apple music handles my streaming needs, and I have a M1 Mac Mini and an iPad in my main listening stacks for that purpose.

Roon at $500 for lifetime was a great deal. At the higher price, well, that's quite a bit. But it does keep getting better and Roon Arc is great I've tried a few other things, including Bluesound, Music Bee, Audivarna , Volumio, but Roon is the best option for me.

Yeah, the Cambridge Audio StreamMagic app is perfectly fine for accessing my library now, and besides, I already have too many subscriptions as it is - Qobuz, Apple Music, and I'm still holding onto Spotify because my kids are too enmeshed in it with our Family Plan. I'm not going to force them out of something they're familiar with just because I personally loath the company.

I'm looking closely at all my subs to see what can be gotten rid of. They're death by 1000 paper-cuts. Software subscriptions get under my skin like no other. Video streaming services have lost their value now that they're being enshittified with ads, substantial price increases, shady practices (looking at you, Amazon), reductions in what's available in their libraries, and general "we have you hooked, now for the rent-taking and gouging". The land-grab time is over for streaming. Now it's all about "shareholder value" and bonuses for the executive teams.

Usually for me it is sport subscriptions so I can see all IU and NFL games but I stop those when the seasons are over. I keep getting a subscription to Cat Chronicles and no matter how many times I stop it, there it is again.🤪🤪

Thankfully I'm not at all into any sports so I can save there. If telescope eyepieces or camera lenses had a subscription service, however, I'd be hosed. ...though I recall that one of the camera brands has, or tried something, where all the software is on the camera, but to unlock certain features and functions you have to pay extra. Brands like that - including automobiles - will never get my business.
