Listening to "Lady Be Good"
Jazz at the Pawnshop...bought this back in 80's for my Maggie's.

Listening with ADX 5000's Midgard and a new dac...
Just a solid 9+ here for cans....really sweet.
Tympani, clinking glasses, horn sooooo realistic.
Hand Claps.

WHEN I get the courage enough to do so…

And, wife is away…

I am going to race my album of this versus my digital source…. Low output Hana SL moving coil, via SME arm and Sota Star Sapphire III Vacuum turntable to Skoll/Kara, and thence to Classe’ and Apogees…

TBH I’ve been avoiding this thunderdome. Why? Dunno… maybe I fear digital will finally be there. LOL. Yeah I have a lot of residual early digital sounded like smelly ass to me syndrome. But, now I’ve an Yggy, I figure it’s worth yet another “race”…

Because this albums, via planars, sounds like you are freaking IN that dang Jazz club (I hung in a lot in the 80’s when I was “unemcumbered”)

Earlier today I had it confirmed that I will be using this Rega tonearm.

By the time the Stjarna appears I may well be ready to test with one of my own tables.🤪

Amazing how much Buffalo Trace can assist in refining one's hearing.
Lol! With enough Buffalo Trace, even an iPhone sounds pretty good. 🤣

Ah what we remember from many years back. I refurb older gear with eyes to the future. Many talk, I try to do.😁
Those who can, do. Those who try, well.... 🤣 🤣 🤣

I have slowed down on high end bourbons yet my wife may be going through withdrawal. Suddenly I am trying to find things in the $50 range she might like. This is one serious work in progress.🤪

Double-stacked DQ-10 << Ampzilla << Audio Research SP-3a << Linn Sondek LP-12 was 🤪🙂🤪🙃🤪 .... (EDIT: only listened, not owned ☑️)
We’ll get along jes’ fine… loved my SP-3a (at that time via Vandersteens which I preferred to my friends DQ-10s; couldn’t afford my other friend (roommate for a year)’s double stacked Quad ESL-63’s via ARC tubes the entire way… alas…

I also couldn’t afford the Linn, so “started” via Rega…

I have owned plenty of Linn but unfortunately the story involves a friend who got in over his head with an audio store and I helped by buying what gear I could. That is all I best say.

Team 4S11 here, equal lengths, one side just coiled up nicely, care taken to not let the speaker cables run parallel to power cords, etc. The cable doesn't know it's coiled, nor does the speaker, just gives me a kind of peace of mind -- plus, if I ever reconfigure the system to a more symmetrical layout wrt equipment positioning, I won't have to bug Tom for another cable. 🤪
Don't coils of wire with an AC signal become inductors...?

Uhh, where does the third channel go?

1729715044686.png
A little lower, right over the nose.
The challenge in this setup though are the differing path lengths between Left/Right Ear direct via the ear canal, vs Centre Channel via the nostrils and Eustachian tube.
Centre channel always arrives out of phase to some degree.

There are coils, then there are COILS. A loop in a highly shielded speaker wire is not the same thing. 😉
