Alright, I caved in and bought tickets to CanJam Dallas in case the BCT does make it to the show. Hopefully I'll run into some of you there.

Just remember to bring a spittoon and say "dang it" a lot and you'll pass the Texas test....

OK.
Done.
I've decided to leave Kara on the 4x position.
A wall to wall image is musical bliss along with that sweet top end and sublime mid-range.
I'd almost swear that Kara has tubes in it.

Ooh. "I'm lovin' it"

Tubes, schmubes. Who needs tubes when you have an insane, fully discrete, solid state preamp running on 64V rails—something so over the top that the likes of this haven’t been seen for 30+ years. Welcome to Kara, the all-new do-all Nexus™ preamp from Schiit Audio.

Kara is definitely something special.

Yes it is.
I've been around and sold at retail some very fine and very expensive preamps in my day and Jason just hit this one out of the park.
An amazing piece of gear, especially at the unbelievable price of 749...in, yeah, silver

Yes! This! Nobody needs tubes, and everybody should stop buying them immediately.

Way too much competition for the good ones.... 🤣

Yes.
9" width is perfect. It's a bit tight in there. 6.5" depth is fine.

(No hurry btw)
It will be a while but I may try to build the cabinet as I do other wood working. 😉

You'll probably have some pieces leftover from my tube rack that you can use. 🤣

By the way you are paying for the semi and forklift to get your gigantic tube rack delivered to Buzzard Belch Oklahoma or whatever Hellhole you reside in now.😜

... any place with audio toys is cool with me), but the more things for sale, the less the focus on Schiit.

.... Speakers? ...

But whatever it is, it must have a use case with Schiit gear. ...

... familiar with wrt my speaker brand/type suggestions ...
FTR, the only reasons I brought up speakers were:
1. Schiit needs speakers to demo their 2ch offerings
2. Salk is no longer in business (their previous go-to?)
so
3. What speakers should they use to demo?

No intention for them to sell those speakers, just have them to showcase the 2ch offerings on hand.

For durability, Acora's granite speakers (CA, ftw!) should be permanently built into the structure of the Schiitr :-D

It's Porcupine Tree on the Freya N's tubes today, but I do very much enjoy the passive solid state stage as well. 😌

I owned the Orangutan 0/93's, driven by a Shindo Cortese amp. They sounded great, although the limitations of the speakers were easy to find (extreme low bass, even some stand-up bass in jazz recordings, could make them audibly struggle.)
Interesting that the DeVore website claims a response of 30Hz-31kHz. Is it a limitation of pairing with this amp?

Suddenly it occurs to me that the Devore primate-themed speaker series and the Schiit Ape may be a match made in stereo. Maybe confer with the "top banana, John Devore" as it calls him on the homepage.

Yeah, I'm slow sometimes (often...?)
