Wharfdale fronts (wonderful speakers), new Polks at the side, JBL's at the rear, a SVS sub, and an old Harman Kardon center that still sounds good. Upgrading the speakers is on the roadmap. Not sure when that will happen, but I've put a lot of work into optimizing the audio quality and it's very easy to get immersed and lost in the music with this system.
I'm pretty sure it's still nevergonnahappenever territory. And not a rumor, just a dummy asking around the stammtisch out of personal curiosity what a Schiit streamer would have to include.
It's just the Schiit Sine Wave in action. We picked up a few new folks lately ... now we're testing the curve and, by golly, it works. We had already covered coffee and toasters multiple times in the past, as well. But each time a topic comes 'round again, we pick up new ideas and details, and so does Jason. It's a win-win.
I'm curious as the the recent resurgence of the Schiit streamer rumors. I always thought it was nevergonnahappenever territory. Especially when you build a Pi USB endpoint all in with software for <$100 or the various Wiim offerings.
There was a recent "what if" post from a ...ummmm "fecal agitator" that seems to have gotten the ball rolling on what a hypothetical Schiit streamer would look like. Jason has been clear that anything requiring software, batteries, or paying someone for a standards certification is a non-starter. notgonnahappen.com.
There are no rumors. It's pure fan-fiction, alternate-universe, what-if, speculation.
Perhaps it will be the start of his wife’s tile business, or is that too logical? I rarely speculate on audio gear, when it is available and folks have tried it, then I might consider it.
So, Schiit has made two different USB-USB DDCs. The first one was called Wyrd, with just one host port and one device port. The second one is called Urd, with two device ports, SPDIF outputs, and a CD transport. But ... Wyrd and Urd are ultimately the same name. Weird.
I can certainly talk to a few of my female test subjects to see if they have an interest. Several are into turntables, records, streaming and tube gear. Several have great knowledge of classical music. Headphones not so much. They might bore folks with some of our test procedures.
Oh and most have heard some Schiit gear at one time or another.
