New Head-Fier
I'm planning on getting either HD 600/6XXs or DT 990s and would like to know what would be the best to get the most out of those headphones. I'm new at this so any advice is appreciated
If you need to move it around the Fulla2 has the advantage of being able to run off a USB power supply. Basically just get a high current multi charger and it can power the Fulla2 while charging your other devices (plus powerbanks).
Otherwise you might as well not make any compromises to power supply design limitations, particularly when the amp has to maintain voltage delivery at high impedance, so get the stack if you don't need it to be mobile. It can otherwise be transportable, it just can't easily fit into the same laptop bag. If you're using a desktop then you might as well get the stack.
yea I'll be using a desktop. regarding sound quality, would the stack still be better in the long run? thanks for the help!
Yes. The PSU for the Magni3 or Vali2 aren't limited by USB current and voltage. You can look at the specs - Fulla2 is powerful for something that uses USB power, but its output at 32ohms by now is behind the Magni2 Uber and Magni3 (and even the Vali2 and Magni2) at 300ohms. Not that you always need obscene amounts of power but the Fulla2 is just barely there due to voltage limitations.

Soundmagic HP200 headphones.
i think I'll go with the standard magni/modi stackthanks again!
Just note that if you want to use hardware DSP on the soundcard or motherboard you'll need to use SPDIF output from either, so your Modi2 needs to be the Uber or Multibit version. If you don't game, or you do but you either don't use virtual surround or use totally software-based simulation - ex Razer Surround or the embedded Headphone setting on some newer games - then USB will work fine.
my motherboard does have SPDIF but not on the rear io; it has a 4-pin connector by the PCIe slot instead. I tried finding a 4 pin to optical connector of some sort but they sell them as brackets and I dont have space for a bracket since I use a mITX system. might have to find a way to jerryrig
You can just use software based headphone surround so it goes through USB, like what's embedded on some games. There's Razer Surround that can work on all games but note that it doesn't really work on movies for some reason.
Ok then, I myself would go for the Fulla 2, for 250-Ohm Beyerdynamic Dt990 headphones.already bought the 990s but thanks for the suggestion

Save the leftover cash for the next headphone upgrade.
