I have decided to upgrade my Schiit Bimby and put it up for sale. Since it is only a few months old, I assumed the warranty would be transferable, as my Emotive components are. After contacting Schiit I was informed that is not the case. Bummer!  Certainly reduces the price of Bimby. It my view it sort of makes the 5 year warranty a red herring. I doubt that many audiophiles will keep a new DAC for five years. My turnover rate is running about a year and a half. After all, part of the fun for me of this hobby is continually improving my SQ. A one or two year transferable warranty would certainly be preferable to the present one at five years.  Just my feelings and probably not shared my most. My Bimby is a great DAC, but I want a new toy now.

That is why I would never buy a used Schiit, unless it is a least 30% less than new price. That does not happen often in the for sale products on Head-Fi. I would rather pay full price and get the warranty. However, it looks like most will go for the used price as it does not seem to slow down used Schiit sales, go figure !

Schiit has already stated that repairs will be done at reasonable prices. I've owned numerous Schiit products & no problems. Many products don't offer transferable warranty. Hifiman is another.
