Scared by 530's cables

So i would buy a pair of shure se530, since the triple fi makes my ears hurts with that damn shrill highs.

I'm only scared by the cables, i want to use them for a long time, is that problem fixed?

Shure's cables are still crap?

I've used SE530 with PTH for over a year now without any problems. Never had issues with past Shure 'phones either. And very low microphonic effect - you can flick the cables and don't hear a thing! However, they do work best for me with Conply or Etymotic foam tips - the older yellow Shure ones just don't work. Not tried the later black ones, though - difficult to get here in the UK.

People are still having the cable cracking problem, even after Shure changed the formulation used in their cables -- you can read about it in the Shure E500/E530 poll thread (which is unfortunately still in the Headphones Full-Size forum).

The good news is that not everyone develops the problem -- it seems to be connected with individual body chemistry. If you do have the problem, you'll probably eventually have it with every Shure you own (I've had two e4g's crack, and my current SE310 has stiffened up), but if your particular body oil is of a different type, you may never see the problem.

Hi,wonder if there's anything like there is with Fly Fishing lines(haven't been or caught any flies lately thou

).With the hard use they get & being specialised,there always trying to develop them further etc.Fly fishing Lines are PVC & you can buy cleaners,conditioners etc,that supposedly re polymerize them or at least make them last longer.They help a bit & at least keep them a bit more supple,but with the ravages of very hard use & sunlight etc,they still end up with lots of cracks(well full of them,more cracks than polymer sometimes

).Maybe there's a product out that would at last extend the life of headphone/earphone cables,maybe someone as even used a product?
Maybe a bit or better sunlight protection at least.

i've used my se530's for a good few months at the gym and haven't had any problems, and i definitely work up a sweat pumpin out that iron.

i've also owned 4 pair of shure earphones and never had that problem. anyway, shure has a good warranty system, and aparently have fixed the cable cracking problem
