I've read many opinions in the forum and I've come to the conclusion that all of these sound "warm" and etc. What do you guys think of the detail, "forwardness", clarity and etc. of these? Comment your experience - which do you like most? Why? (maybe the question "Are the A8xx series that much better?" will be appropriate too)

OK OK.

I have the Sony A818 and my brother has the clip. I know some have said that the sound is similar, but I do not agree with that. The Sony sounds more natural. The clip seems grainy to me. The Sony sounds fuller and does not suffer from bass or treble roll off like most DAPs.

The Sony also offers many more features (video, DBEE, Clear bass) that really add to it's value. Check out my sig.

I have not heard the Clix2.

I have not heard the Sony. It may sound better, but it's quite a bit more expensive for similar memory levels, and it's bigger. I would say the two players are in different classes. I'm very impressed with the sound of the clip (and with the great screen quality) for such a small inexpensive player. I just wish they would add gapless and replay gain support. Then I'd be totally happy with the product (well, I bought the 1gb version - I'd like more storage too - for the same price, of course) :-)

Yeah, the Sony is in a different league of course, but as I asked in the first post: Is it that much better? I'm really getting Sansa Clip 4GB when its released(the silver is sooo sexy

), but just wanted to see a sound quality and especially sound signatures comparison between them.

Btw, what about the Sansa Clip 4GB? AFAIR it was due to be out in February, what happened? Why its not released yet? Is there any official released date or something?

I have an S610 and I love it. FYI, Circuit City has the 2 GB A810 on sale for only $69.95 this week. Definitely worth the extra $10-20 over a 2 GB Sansa Clip, IMO.

I have not heard Clix2, but have owned, E10, T60, iHP-120 and from memory they sound about the same. Compared to my Creative zen they sound varm but lacks very much in the detail and dynamics, the creative is also a bit to the varm side if not all neutral, but not as varm as iriver. It was a lot easier to hear the difference between my iriver and creative than it was between my creative and Rotel rcd-06 cd-player.

I heard clix2, E10 and some other iRivers. clix2 sounds simply better to me than Sony - better imaging, treble clarity, midrange colors. Sony is warm but a bit muddy, with well defined bass however. I would choose the clix2 from this three hands down.
BTW, clix2 sounds different from any iRiver produced so far IMHO, but equally great to E10 and ifp 700/800/900 series.
