Lou's Records - 434 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024
M-Theory - 915 W Washington St San Diego, CA 92103

Lou's is cheaper. M-Theory has more selection and more helpful staff.

I don't know if you could manage a day trip to LA that week, but I think a trip up here to visit Amoeba Music and Record Surplus would put a smile on your face and a hole in your wallet.

Less good than the first two:

Blue Meanie Records - 1164 N. Second St. El Cajon, CA

I second the trip to go to Amoeba. It is a pain in the arse to get to and I would think that $300 is the minimum to bring for records if you go there. Otherwise you will remember everything you passed on when you get home and are looking on eBay. Every time I go on ebay to find Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, I remember that it was only $17 the last time I was at Amoeba.

Or the time they had Good News for People Who Love Bad News for $40 - out of print even back then. I am so upset at myself for that one.

Amoeba put a big whole in my wallet a few years ago in SF. If I can get there in LA, watch out bank account. I have heard of Record Surplus before. Is it about 2 hours drive time?

I may be wrong, but I think there is a Sonic Boom records in San Diego. We have a couple here in Seattle and the are amazing, so it could be worth checking out. Good selection of (mostly) indie rock LPs.
EDIT- I lied, it's just local. I have no idea what the hell I was thinking.

Not that I know of. I have never seen one and it is not in the book.
