This thread is for the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 (Exynos version with Wolfson). A separate thread makes sense since the I9500 performs very different to the I9505.

My impression including some issues are as follows:
- Volume is very soft
- lack of low end on most headphones
- sounds good once connected to a headphone amp
- most irritatingly I have some crackling issues between tracks after 10 minutes or play when using my FiiO E11. There is no crackling when powering the headphones directly

I've recently purchased the S4 to replace my iphone 4s and i'm sure the sound quality on galaxy is way better with a more detailed, deep and yet smooth sound. My headphones are pioneer AH-D1100 an Sennheiser HD-555.

You can raise the volume by modifying default_gain.conf in system/etc

the s4 9500 sounds superpb and has plenty of juice. Still haven't had the chance to compare it to the voodoo'd galaxy s1. I want I the s4 to be better :)

why do i feel like the sound of the s3 is squished and compressed on mp3 320kbps while the sound on a iphone 4s is detailed and rich?

i use a westone es5 with some modified cable that i forgot

edit:

i think its a double helix copper cable
