I read that the Note 9 has aptX but not aptX HD - oh, well. With the potential for 1TB of music, this phone opens up possibilities. Although I think the LG series phones have better DACs.

Wow. You're right. I see the coded options on my V30.

Anyone who has the Note 9 want to share the audio quality?

Not worth it, if you ask me as this phone is not 5G capable. Better wait for S10 in January, a real upgrade.
  7. cj3209
What does 5G have anything to do with audio? Curious.

I was talking per total. Next year you can still get a phone with a good DAC but 5G capable. Choose wisely and make a real upgrade.

Own this and a v30. V30 is immensely better. Using the qQualcom version btw

Yah, I also have a V30 and it seriously rocks.

I'm having some angst right now as my Note 9 is coming tomorrow and I have to sell my V30+...

Honestly. It's worth it. I actually have the v35, and the note 9 is amazingly better on every way except the wired audio
  12. cj3209
    Yah, it's definitely a better phone. :)

    Note 9 does have aptX...

i don't find the audio quality of Note 9 so distant from the V30...maybe it's my humble opinion eeheh

Well, Note 9 with Roon end point installed and tidal master files sound pretty good. I know Roon is 'unfolding' the tidal's MQA files. This is the best sound I've gotten from this phone to date. Used my still-not-broken-in IT04 iems.

Maybe LDAC wireless from this phone to an LDAC DAP would sound even better...

I recently accuired a Note 9 (Exynos version). For comparison I have an LG G7 too. Prior to that a V30. As I was disappointed with the Note 8 audio I did not have any expectations.

I was wrong. They have upped their game a lot with the Note 9. A very decent amount of space in the soundstage. Much wider soundstage than the Note 8 had. The bas is also very well controlled and detailed. In fact the difference from the Note 8 is so huge that it acually starts sniffing my G7 in the butt. The difference is really not that big. Not as big as one would believe anyway. It's so good that I don't really miss my G7 that much.
