First Impressions:
Wow, i just picked one up from Best Buy, and so far i'm quite impressed with the unit. I burned a CDR with 154 mp3's (from 128kbps and up) and I'm listening to them right now with my 7506's...the headphone jack is quite loud and sounds good, and is also very quiet, didn't notice any humming or noise. It takes about 3 seconds to skip from one mp3 to the next. I also did notice it takes about a minute to set up the cdr with all the track titles. I have the volume set to '2' and is driving them loud enough to where i can barely hear my clunky keyboard as i'm typing away!
As for movies, i've only tested "The Boiler Room" and played it flawlessly, also the ability to switch from Letterbox to full screen is a neat trick. Oh yea....it has a Zoom feature...another added bonus. I'll test out it's playback in the coming days.
Build quality seems good as well, it's very sturdy and a has a smooth silver finish accompanied by the remote as well. Of course the remote is setup quite differently from my Sony DVD player, guess it takes a little getting used to. Also, the Sony DVD player i have is 3 years old and went for $400, and the Samsung has way more bells and whistles, S-Video, Composite Video as well as Coaxial and Optical Audio outs. I'll include some nice pics so you guys can check it out, what do you guys think of this model?
George
Ps. the model# for the Sony is DVP-S530D.
