I posted a thread about Sam's Club earlier this week and now Royal Farms. Royal Farms is a convenience store in the Maryland area. They are a big operation all company owned.

I got off of work at 1 am and I went to Royal Farms. I ordered 2 Hot Dogs and fixed myself a 44oz. fountain soda. There were 3 Baltimore City Police standing by the coffee island having coffee with guns hanging on the side. The clerk who is fixing my hot dogs tells me that I have to pay for my soda before he will give me the hot dogs. So I think yo myself "does he think I'm going to put this 44 oz. soda cup down my pants and leave without paying"...then I conveyed the same to him and told him to hurry with the hot dogs as I had somewhere to go.

I went to the register to pay for my soda. As I'm leaving the store the clerk said "your hot dogs are ready." I said to him "those are your hot dogs, I'm not eating that S*it." One policeman spit his coffee out, One policeman choked on his coffee, and the 3rd laughed his ass off.

I go to Royal Farms 4 - 5 times a week AND ALWAYS PAY FOR MY ITEMS. I won't let this incident stop me.

Thought you guys (and ladies) would like this

Glad you thought it was funny. I would have loved to have seen the expression on that guy's face when you told him they were his hot dogs! Classic. Sometimes a guy just doesn't know who he's messing with, or what they've had to deal with of late.

What are you complaining about?

You goto a convience store, ask for 2 hot dogs, go get a drink. And this is what i dont get, did you want to stand there in the store and eat the hotdogs and your drink. I dont know thats just odd to me, but really at a convience store this doesnt sound odd or bad at all its just the way they work its not a diner.

^^^ Yea, I kind of agree. Those clerks don't make a lot of money and they are just following store policy. Their managers are probably holding them over the fire. On top of that in places like these, there are probably so many punk kids who go in there and steal stuff. Often times if goods are stolen, the employee working behind the counter has to pay for it out of his paycheck. Now please don't tell me that is illegal! Yes it is, but what is an employee making $7.25 an hour going to do about it? Sue? He is living pay check to pay check and would be fired first. Now if the employee was totally rude to you, then that is another story.

I've dealt with similar crap at Wawa. They instituted the touch screen ordering systems a while back. At first was lovely when you had the option of taking the deli receipt to the register to pay while your stuff was being prepared, but now they insist on seeing the stamped receipt at the deli counter (as in they won't give you your food before you pay for it). Fine by me, but sliced meat/cheese must be payed for after it's weighed as usual, so if you order a half-pound of turkey with your chicken strips it throws them for an incredibly stanky loop. Good thing their food is predominantly garbage.

Too true, davidhunternyc. I've talked with some Wawa clerks and apparently people walk out the door with 'free' food at least a couple times a day. Being asked to make trips back and forth from register to deli counter is obnoxious, but pitching a fit isn't worth it to me when I just want to eat my damn chicken strips at 2 in the morning.

Yeah, I feel the same, really. It isn't the minimum wage robotic arm that is in charge of those decisions, but it is him/her that will get it in the neck for this kind of stunt. You are sort of punishing the wrong person here.

having worked in retail I have to say how much it brightens your day when some smart ass pulls a stunt like this!
Damn how we smile and joke on our next hard earned break!
Bet your hot dogs never taste the same again!
Man you just earned "extra sauce" !!
