I have a broken 5disc changer sony stereo and I was wondering if there are an salvagable parts inside that would be useful. I know that the volume assembly knob is from ALPS.

Rip it open and look? Probably not a lot of usable parts though. Maybe the RCA's or transformers or knobs.

It'll probably be very unit specific though so unless you're going to fix a similar player there might not be much of any use.

But it's always fun to look.

Power supply & transformers, capacitors, opamps, volume pot, are all worth thinking about.

I desoldered all those parts perfectly.

Now if I can only find a use for them. The power is heavier than my computers 400watt antec.

The biggest were 4 ELNA caps, 2 4700uf 25v and 2 3300uf 50v around the supply.

You can get perf board at radio shack. Unfortuneatly, the boards they have with copper traces don't seem to take solder well, but they can be used also, if you clean the copper well, before soldering.
