Hello everyone. Few days ago I've decided to try some better stuff instead of multimedia speakers and bought a pair of Behringer B2031A.
But there is a problem:

One of them has some defect (can't find out is it damage or defect of the rubber).
How bad it is?
It's not perforating.

That tiny blemish in the red circle? I wouldn't worry about it.

After detailed inspection with a magnifying glass I can make a conclusion that it's a little ~0.1mm deep, ~0.4-0.5mm long scratch.
I'm just afraid will it be worse with time or not.

Did you buy them new? If that's the case and you feel that way then just get them replaced. Regardless of whether that can be a problem or not (I don't think it would), if you buy new, you should get something that doesn't have something like that.

Yep, I bought them brand new. I think I'll have some debates with shop where I bought them, maybe that case turn bad and I'll be forced to go to court. But I hope that their director is not so stupid.

This is my sad acquaintance with the world of HiFi. Hope everything will turn good.

The scratch is difficult to see in the pic. If it's not an actual hole it should probably be fine. Do you notice any difference in performance in that speaker?

Behringer is a budget brand for studio equipment, and not really known for their quality. Exchanging them is up to you, but don't be surprised if you exchange for the same speaker and you find another minor fault. If you deal with a good shop, it should be an easy swap. Good luck, and hope you get a pair that satisfies you if you decide to do an exchange.

Over here we tend to email the manufacturer HQ if we have any complaints with how the local distributor handles these things. Like when a bunch of NAD CDPs were shipped with a faulty batch of Sanyo transports, and we had several months of complaining to the distributor until the thread at a local forum grew that we realized it wasn't an isolated issue. Then somebody found similar threads in other forums, and apparently at some point NAD already replaced the units. Local distributor here still wouldn't, so a bunch of people emailed NAD directly about it. The issue was dealt with, and by next year NAD had a new distro.

Still, don't expect the same results - a transport that can't read discs within a short period of purchase is a much bigger problem than that scratch.

Cheers!
So, about situation, I swapped this B2031A's to KRK's RP8G3 (last pair in this shop). This was the only variant because I don't want to spend more money and time on disputes with shop and also I didn't said that B2031A has mechanical damage on woofer because any mech. damage = customer's fault.

So. Now I have some RP8G3's and they doesn't have any damage, just want to ask is it normal:

I'm asking not because I'm so hypercritical, because I had some Microlab SOLO 7 before and in some ways their build quality was better than KRK's. And I'm pretty confused about it, how 440EUR pair of studio monitors (I know it's budget) may has worse build quality than PC multimedia speakers.

There are other reasons for the price difference. The cost or individual parts, the size and weight affecting shipping costs, difference in profit margins, and then there's the difference in construction/design that may make assembly more problematic. Looking at the Microlab Solo 7, it looks to be something easier to build - look at how the tweeters are mounted on both. The Solo7 has a flat front baffle but the KRK has the baffle acting also as a wave guide. It may or may not cost them more to make their factory workers (whether it's China or not) more OC about the tweeter mounting, as in your pic.

I would scratch that up to "didn't buy a Focal Utopia." Look at the fancy mounting on those, where the driver frames aren't level to the outer part of the baffle, kind of like the KRK but it's of a much better quality. Now if I paid $20,000 and the mounting isn't perfect I'm really going to throw a fit.

+1

These may seem expensive speakers to you that you are purchasing, but they are budget entry level pro audio speakers when it comes to powered monitors. Keep in mind that they are being designed and sold as tools for use, for work, and like most budget tools, aesthetics is not the reason most people buy them. They are about how they work, how they sound. If you buy a Stanley screwdriver, be glad that it works as well as it does for what it costs and don't expect it to have the fit and finish of a SnapOn tool. So you really should quit focusing on how they look. There was nothing wrong with those Behringer speakers for their price bracket. That was a very slight cosmetic issue. Now you have more slight cosmetic issues with the KRKs. If you want flawless looking speakers that sound good, you need to save up a good bit more money.
