Hello, all.

Well, I've got the Sony SA5000. They're amazing. Unparalled quality, with just excellent sonics--exactly what I'm looking for (forward, clear, engaging, comfortable, light, precise base).

However, I really don't have the $350 to spend on these. So, I'm looking at the $100 SA1Ks. What am I going to notice downgrading? Or, is there another phone with these qualities that I should try?

I'd just keep my $55 Audio Technica ATH-D40fs, except they're crippling after about an hour of use. They hurt my poor ears so much

You might take a look at this thread.
I'm going to get some SA1000's for myslf in a very short time, and an amp to go with them, so basically I'm joining the club.

sry, I had to butt in, but I had the HD555 before, should be similar comfort wise, and it was too clampy. The new SA1ks are so comfortable, no clamp, just rest on your head. So it should be the same for the SA5Ks, but it's even more comfortable than my Eggos
