Members,

I've been thinking about my next DAP after using Cowon iAudio7 16GB. iAudio7 is phenomenal and has brilliant sound quality. So was planning to stick to Cowon, however, I ain't sure what is right for me.

1. I need an entertaining device. Loaded with games, various modifications available, tools, accessories, java if supported etc.

2. Drag and drop functionality is kind of important as I hate installing specific software to sync the device.

3. Ability to play movies without any conversion.

4. Wi-Fi for accessing internet at airport or cafe, would be an advantage.

5. Exceptional sound quality which is the base of all.

Please suggest which one I should get.

1. Touch
2. Touch
3. Touch

My signature supports my argument by itself...

Hard one...

I like them both for different reasons. I find the pod to earn the place in my pocket more and more though...it is so much more fun to use...

iPods are not for me. IMO they suck.

I was reading about Digital Radio, read S9 has it, but only in some versions, is there any hardware difference or its firmware related.

It seem only a laptop can satisfy all your requirements. infact you should have your priority. Some times you have to compromise with somthing. because there is no any player are perfect with every aspect, there will be no in the future.

+1 - heafever is right OP - your list of priorities is far too ambitious for a DAP. You want all the goodies, but dont want to have to deal with the software needed to download all those goodies ?? You want interactivity, but SQ is 'above all else' ?

IMO, you need to get the Touch AND the S9, the latter for music and the former for everything else. I'm not saying you cant play music on the Touch or videos on the Cowon - of course you can - simply that you will be able to drag and drop FLAC onto the Cowon from any computer you have at your disposal : no specific software required. If its about money, the question is the same one we all ask ourselves - how bad do you really want it ?

Why would anyone include something that sucks in his query???

You are wasting our time. Grow up first!

Absolutely, guess I should get both of them. Or maybe the S9 fetches most of it, besides Wi-Fi.

I got iPod Touch on the list as a potential competitor, say it was the one that satisfied Wi-Fi, goodies, etc. I also thought if people would recommend using Touch by bypassing iTunes (if possible). Moreover, at times I felt Touch is the one which I should be going for, but I don't like iPods/iPhone so came up with the statement.

Apologies for wasting your time, was trying to get some help and advise.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and tell you: a netbook fits your needs!

None of the PMPs you mentioned can do all the things you listed. A netbook, however, can and costs about the same ($300-$500 on average). It even has a bigger screen and more power too. Not to mention a lot more storage.

Be very careful with the s9, it's a gorgeous sounding player, but it's as reliable as British Rail.

I certainly wouldn't buy one again, mine lasted two weeks then I sent it back for a refund.

Not that I'm aware of, or would have thought. Netbooks are all about saving weight, size and long battery life. Performance, audio quality etcetera all take a back seat.
