A few weeks ago I flew from Toronto (where I grew up) to Vancouver (where I currently live). I brought my heart rate monitor with me to Toronto so I could keep up with my running, and managed to get three decent runs in while I was there - two 10Ks and one 15K. Anyway, on my last day, I packed my heart rate monitor in my bag (it was the last thing I packed) in my running pack. When I got back to Vancouver low and behold I found that someone had stolen my heart rate monitor from my bag. I didn't believe that it had happened for several days, because who has ever heard of anyone stealing things from bags at airports.

Well, apparently they have been busting baggage handlers at Toronto International Airport for it for the past few years. Bummer!

It's been a few weeks since I"ve been back, and I was so bummed out having my heart rate monitor stolen (Polar S625X- keeps track of how fast you've run, and the degree of your ascent/descent) that I haven't gone for much of a run since. Yesterday morning I did an easy 5K run and decided that I want my heart rate monitor again, so I just re-bought another Polar S625X heart rate monitor. I guess I'll never pack it in my bag again.

Don't know what the point of this thread was, except perhaps to gripe and warn people not to put valuables in their baggage. The only thing I used to take with me in carry on was my notebook computer, my iPod and some headphones. That's going to change now.

That must suck having to re buy one. Pricy they are. I was looking into getting one, but got HD650s instead. I am still lurking for a cheap alternative...

I found another one at a pretty decent price, so I pulled the trigger on it. I bought this one new for almost the same price I bought the last one used for, so while it sucks that it was taken, at least I got a good deal on it on eBay.
