I am running my RS180 wireless phones from my laptop and although the sound is very good, it is of lesser quality than my cheap wired in ear phones from the same laptop.
 
Does anyone have any reason for this?

May take time to get used to the sound. How long have you had them for?

Are you sure about that?
 
Or do you think it might possibly be simply you prefer the other sound because you're more used to it or simply like it better?
 
Higher quality doesn't always equate to higher enjoyment.
