OK I got a good price on a pair of Grado RS1's. Call me paranoid though - but I am curious if there is any possibility they could be fakes?
What are the true Grado RS1 aficionados impression of the presentation of the Grado RS1's on this site?

The box looks a bit cheap and nasty to me.
Also I don't recall seeing a serial number printed anywhere on the box, or on any of the documentation.
Further, the headband looked a bit cheaper and nastier on the RS1's than I expected and looked more as though it were made of PVC than leather. Nor do I remember did it show any of the larger hand type stitching that appears to be evident on older models. (I didn't look at them very long before returning them - so I don't recall this for sure).
What makes me think they are Grados is that they suffered from the 'Grado grattle' in exactly the same (left hand side) phone that other RS1 owners have reported.
I think it is very unlikely that they are fake. I think I am just uber suspicious by nature - and some of the things I have read here and elsewhere have put me on edge. Possibly they might have a slightly inferior fishing for the Chinese market - but then again I don't know. Some folks say that the RS1's can sometimes have a bit of an untidy finish anyway.
That is the problem with hand made stuff I guess - it can often have very variable quality.
Machining was invented to get rid of the inconstancies in hand made products.
