I will compare my Kramer Modded KSC75 to my RS-2, both on the same setup in my sig. This won't be long.

The KSC75 is not bad. In fact it's great considering how much it cost. But, it is not perfect, either.

Compared to the RS-2, there is a quality about it's sound that is very hard for me to touch down on, and I can only describe as "slightly dry". It has more flabby bass impact and the bass does not go as low. The mids are slightly more forward. It can sound congested on more complex passages. And instead of sounding better as the volume goes up, it gets fatiguing. The detail is also noticeably lower than with the RS-2, especially with the bass.

Overall, it's a great headphone for the price, but when directly compared to a high end headphone, it's flaws become glaringly apparent.

It will work for me while my RS-2 is having warranty service done, however, because of the typical grado quality control problems.

Sometimes I prefer the sound of the ksc75s to my 225s!

it will be interesting to see by how much of a margin you consider these to be different, in what areas and by how much. i mean, in terms of the fact that you can hear music in both the ksc75 AND the rs2, they cant be all that different.
Can they?

its all diminishing returns after the ksc75 anyway...........

Simple:

KSC75 + Soundstage + Insane levels of Detail + Comfort + Sexy Looks = RS1*

(RS1* == some strange half-mix of Bowls and Flats, as the KSC75 has some features of both)

Just out of curiosity, what 'typical grado quality control' issue did you have that required you to send them in for repair?

I will be sure to do a KOSS KSC-75 versus Grado PS-1 in the near future for giggles, or maybe even KSC-75 vs K1000! I don't even want to imagine how many pairs of KSC-75s I could have purchased for the price of the PS-1s.

I like my KSC75 a lot, but to compare with RS-2?
Hmmm... very interesting.

Do you have further modification at KSC75, made it almost match to RS-2?
If that is the case, I think we all in this site want to know... seriously.
But whatever the case, I think we can expect your honest opinion on both of them. So I am waiting.

I hope it turns out be a favor of KSC75, so that I don't have to break my bank to get RS-2.

Err...is this really even a fair comparison?

"Do you have further modification at KSC75, made it almost match to RS-2?"

hmm...to make a fair comparison...I think you would not only have to seriously upgrade the KSC75 but also downgrade the RS-2...

the KSC75's are not comfy, the stupid hooks hurt.

I don't agree. I find them much mor comfourtable than IEMs, I don't get fatigued at all. You have to bend the "hooks" so that they will fit comfy to you.

Luckily they are under warranty, but I will quote the letter I sent in with them:
Quote:

On the left ear cup, the circular piece of wood that says RS-2 is slightly off center. On the lower right of the right ear cup, the metal grille is not totally in place. Again on the right ear cup, when you take off the ear pad, about 1/3 of the glue that holds the driver in place is not actually bonded to the wood or driver. On the left ear cup, when you take off the pad, there is a small piece of wood that chipped off. You can tell this happened when it was manufactured because it has the stain and finish on it. And finally, on both ear cups, along the edges of the grille, where the wood was cut, it looks splintered and not properly finished.

It won't be very exciting of course, but I could do a KSC75/MS2i test. Actually it COULD be very exciting at that. I'd have to fight the wife the get the 75s back!!
