Ok, too late to bid, I ain't one of those spoilers but who got them? Anyone here? I bid but they got out of reach after passing 250. :^) It would have been nice to have gotten an older pair in the nice wood box.

Umm... maybe WertherDVX.

I don't think anyone would've wanted to bid against him anyways.

Even if you did, he tends to pay more than most people are willing to pay if he wants something for his museum.

I have also read that the older version of the RS-1 has a little better sound but have no experience with this. Is it the case and condition of these that would bring the higher price or a perceived increase in sound quality or all three?

Its not about the sound quality. The box and brown headband, condition too.

"Its not about the sound quality."???

It's all 4- Sound Quality, wood enclosure, brown headband and condition.

There's a reason why these are desirable and to knowledgable people it's the belief they sound better.

Search the Forum the information and reviews are there.

I was going to bid, but the going price on RS-1's seems to be around $500 for newer units.

Pretty certain this pair has a black headband. They look exactly the same as mine actually, same box design, although i didn't get the card box with mine second hand.

I have yet to find indepth review about the differences of these two. My view was based merely on my own comparison. Wether the belief of better sound quality pays any reason is debatable however. I think that the reasons I mentioned are much higher value than the possible sound quality difference.
