How would a Beyer headphone be relevant when asking about a Denon headphone?

Thanks for the offer, but I was more interested in the comparison to the D-2000s.

As a general rule, I am not a big fan of Closed headphones, but the RP-21s have impressed me very much so far, especially at their price. I would like to have 1 set of non-IEM closed phones in my arsenal, and so far I prefer the RP-21s (sound wise) more than any other closed phone I have owned to date (CD-3000, K 81 DJ, DT770, A900, DT250 and a few others I can't recall).

The SQ of the RP-21s got me to wondering about another current FOTM closed phone (the Denon D-2000). So I was just wondering if anyone had both of those phones on hand to give some comparisons and impressions. Once I can score a used pair of D-2000s in the FS forum when the FOTM hype dies down, I will judge for myself. At which point the winner will stay and the loser will go.

In the meantime, I was just fishing for some possible comparisons between the two phones since they both seem to be FOTM phones and as such I figured it was likely that a few people may currently own both.

i wouldnt say the d2000 as a fotm phone anymore. the initial wave has already come and went, yet most of them are still keeping them. if you are waiting for used or the "hype" to die down, you might have to wait a while.

I have no problem at all with waiting. I have been around here long enough to know that they will start showing up for sale soon enough. I just need to be patient, and I am.

It has happened with just about every single phone in production: new phone is released, a respected Head-Fi member proclaims how wonderful they are, droves of people jump on the FOTM bandwagon and buy said phone because they want a new toy to play with. Then a bunch more people proclaim how wonderful they are. Then eventually people will start to find some fault with the phone in one way or another. Some may keep them for a while, some may keep them for good, but many end up selling them off a bit later on down the road to help fund the next FOTM. Happens all the time. I am pretty confident the D-2000s aren't immune to this phenomenon.

It's nothing to be ashamed of, participating in a FOTM rush can be fun sometimes. Hell I've been caught up in it a few times myself.

But I am a bit wiser and more patient now, so if there is a new phone I am interested in, I wait for the FOTM to die down then I buy it in the FS forum at a discounted price.

We shall see...

Cool! Have fun with your new toy.

Perhaps I can point you towards another FOTM phone, check out the Equation audio Eartools line of phones! Perhaps you will buy a pair of RP-21s, then you can do a comparison between the D2000s and the RP-21s, then come back and post in this thread your findings!

Saving 20 bucks and missing all that fun you can have now? What's the point?
