Round 2: Come and tour our Audiophile Experience Center

I am from Hamburg, Germany, and I would listen to a german record: "Mamani" by Joy Denalane. I don't think there is one record I listened to more in my life than this one. I have been going through different phases of musical taste, but this is the one record that never became boring for me. It is a perfect record for me: not one song is boring, excellent musicianship, a wonderful voice and the recording sounds absolutely sublime. Even though it was Joy Denalane's debut album, I think it is by far her best one.

It is also over an hour long, so that gave me more time with the HE1 than with most other records. :D

ICYMI: A few months ago, we sent three audiophiles to the Audiophile Experience Center (AEC) within our Tullamore, Ireland factory to experience their favorite album on the HE 1. Well, we are getting the band back together and this time around, we will send SIX lucky winners to go to Tullamore for the audiophile experience of a lifetime.

Here’s how to get there:

  • Of course, you must be able to travel internationally if required

insider tip: we’re looking for new albums to add to our listening room, so stay away from frequently requested albums, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories & Pink Floyd’s Dark Side, etc (we have those already!)

I live in England.
I heard the HE-1 at London CanJam in 2023 for 15 minutes. (Sadly, there was no HE-1 at CanJam London 2024.) I found the HE-1 a truly wonderful creation: sonic art. Of course, 15 minutes was not enough for much.
I would find it extremely hard to pick one album. At first, I was going to go for something like Sync24: Omnious or Carbon Based Lifeforms: Derelicts. I love these easy listening albums with many layers and different creative sounds with different timbres coming from all directions. Then I thought, if it is one album only, it must be something with human voice, an organic touch. I would pick Aurora. Her vocal range is great and her notes always accurate. I love all her albums; good mastering and creative complexity of sounds/layers combined with stunning vocals. Another reason for my choice is that on lesser equipment her higher registers may come across too strong, but on good tube amps even those higher notes sound absolutely smooth, beautiful and natural. I am sure, on the HE-1 she would sound natural. :)
My album choice therefore would be Aurora: A Different Kind of Human - Step 2.

Can we show up there on our own time, to demo without winning a prize? What would the booking time limit be, if so?

I am glad to hear that the contest is back! I will try again then :)

The album I would listen to in the legendary HE-1 would be Sergio Mendes’ “Encanto” 🇧🇷

The Brazilian composer, producer and entrepreneur passed away on September 5th this year and left many albums full of life and the joy of the Brazilian culture that I enjoy listening to since I was 16 🎶

I am film composer, pianist and educator living in Florida USA 🇺🇸

Best of luck to everyone! ✨

Nice! Did you or one of your cohorts write a trip report, by any chance?
I wanted to, but waited for some photos to be made available and then it kinda slipped my mind. :/

I can say it was a great time there, I enjoyed every second of it and I am very grateful to be given this experience by Sennheiser. My audiophile highlight of the year.

Thank you!

Greater London - United Kingdom

Jeff Beck - Blow by Blow

One can make a case for many as to who is the greatest ever guitarist. This is the late and great Jeff Beck who is certainly in that discussion. I do not offer a personal backstory about this choice. It was released before I was born. Instrumental album but no words needed, Stevie Wonder collaboration, enough said. I learned a lot from others on the site. Like many, I bought and still own the original marble HD600 (in 2008) ; turning on music the midrange tonality and transparency is addictive, like putting Winnie the Pooh in a room of honey.

I’m currently residing in Florida, USA. I would love to listen to Mogwai's Happy Songs for Happy People on the Sennheiser HE-1 because the album's ethereal soundscapes and powerful crescendos create an ultimate journey through melancholy. Tracks like "Hunted By a Freak" and "Kids Will Be Skeletons" showcase Mogwai's mastery in crafting immersive atmospheres, and the unparalleled tonality and detail of the HE-1 would allow me to fully delve into every intricate layer. This experience would be a perfect fusion of joy and introspection, making it an unforgettable auditory adventure in Ireland! Cheers!

Hello from Munich, Germany.
This is my second attempt for this fantastic possibillity.
I have heard HE 1 only once on High End, but the enviroment was too loud.
I would like to here it in good condititions.
This time i woul choose ''The Lion and the Cobra'' from Sinead O'Connor.
Beautiful album form the artist which will always be remembered.
Troy is one of my testing tracks for checking out the gear.
And this album will suit the location very good.
I wish luck to all!

Thank you @Sennheiser for the chance to experience this Gem!

West Sussex, UK

The Artist is Submotion Orchestra, the Album is Kites and the track Variations in particular.
I listened to it at CanJam London this year and their Music and the quality of the recording blew me away. a seven piece band formed in 2009 in Leeds with such a rich and varied sound.

I'm sure the experience of this Album on the HE1 would be magical.

I've always wanted to visit Ireland! And hear the HE-1. Currently living in Chicago, IL, USA.

One of my favorite albums (and one I've enjoyed recently as an SACD or as DSD files) is Pixies DOOLITTLE. The audio blu-ray with the 5.1 mix is neat too, but the remastered stereo version is quite a treat with headphones.

I live in England.
I never heard the HE-1 and that would be an awesome opportunity.

It is hard to pick only one album, but if I need to, then my choice would be: Beethoven : Symphonies Nos. 5 & 7 Wiener Philharmoniker Carlos Kleiber

For me this recording combines layers of sheer energy, explosive sparks and scores, inspiration and air, magnificently structured by Carlos Kleiber.

Good luck to all! 👍

I live in France, and if I was lucky enough to be picked to visit your facilities and to hear for the famous HE-1 picking a single album to listen on it is a hard choice to make.
I'm ruling out albums that are too short.
I don't want to consider any potential best pairing between this electrostatic beauty and a music type.
Let's end up with "Philarmonics" by Agnes Obel, before I change my mind again :)
