The 955 is a slight update to the 855 which hails from 1989. I had a 855 and it was fine and very quiet in operation, though $130 for a 15/16 year old CD player looks a bit steep now.

I agree. The 955 was a classic in its day. Unfortunately, its day has long since come and gone. Give this one a pass, there are better deals to be found.
I own a 955 and it is a great CD player, but I don't think it is worth $130. Mine has a drawer problem, in that the drawer goes back in after it is open. This is a common problem with the 855s and the 955s.
