Ron Welborne is considering adding a headphone jack to his new ultrafriggingbadass Ultrapath preamp. We must try to convince him to do this!

Nick
I've already ordered one.

(just kidding)

The only thing that scares me is his notion that there should be two jacks, one for 300ohm and the other for 600ohm. AFAIK, the best headphone jacks for high ohm headphones (and most headphones, actually) approach 0ohm output impedance. It's not clear to me what he would change between targeting a 300ohm load and 600ohm load.

Just a thought...

Ron is a big joker.I saw some posts where he claimed the price would be $14,000.The actual kit price will be around $700 and upgraded kit with premium parts will be $1200.00.I also see that he has decided to go with a different tube and circuit topology. It should still be a great preamp.

Ron Welborne over at Audioasylum, confirms the ultrapath webpage would be up by this weekend with full details, photos, pricing and ordering info.

Did anything regarding the headphone output got confirmed?
