I got a chance to listen to Ca Ira, I'm a big fan of Waters...
It's very much an opera, which for me is something I know nothing about. After a while the voices, constantly loudly singing, after a while it all mixes together.... I wanted more music and sounds. From operas I have heard they're always sung in a foreign language, and this one is American so it's a strange effect hearing american lyrics sung by such powerful voices...
I personally listen to music for the sounds as opposed to the conceptual lyrics, in this case I'm not sure you can listen to the album that way. My problem I guess is that I didn't know how to listen, so I'll have to hear this again and actually follow the story, I'm sure it'll be much more compelling that way...
So I'm pretty inexperienced with opera, but I thought the music was always pretty dramatic and beautiful. In any case I think it's great for an artist to branch out of a comfort zone and work in different areas, you can't grow unless you allow yourself to change.
