If I'm playing my songs through rockbox on a 5.5 gen ipod, can I plug it into iTunes also and have my music sync up to that like normal or is that no longer an option?

Also when playing do play counts of songs carry over into iTunes while playing in Rockboxed or only on the regular iTunes UI?

You can still sync w/ iTunes but I'm not sure about the play count.

Can't say I've ever had issues on my 4g. FWIW, it's easy to try and undo if you don't like it. Wasn't crazy about Rockbox myself, but this was quite a while ago when I tried it.

you can sync, but of course depending on the format it may be of no value; also you may find you need to update the database afterwards. dont think so anymore though as I add new things all the time and it nolonger seems to need it.
play count of course is not carried over, its a software function, not a HW function and the software in that case is 2 different pieces

Oh ok, hmm yea I didn't think it would. Well I already have 2 iPods and would only get the Video for the Rockbox function but...hmmm do you do you guys think it'll be worth it? I mean buying the used 5.5 Gen just for rockbox?
