I put rockbox on my Nano about 3 weeks ago. Now that ive learned the new click wheel commands its been going well.

The problem is when I put new music on and take some stuff off the ipod. It takes freaking forever to update the cache. I leave it on for more than 2 hours and it still doesn't allow me to access the files.

I set "file view" to "tag cache" on the recommendation of the rockbox user manual. That was suggested cause every 2 weeks or less I delete some albums and put new ones on. But then when I do, the files are untouchable till the cache has been updated. "cache not ready yet"

What are some tricks you guys have learned to speed this up? Is there a short cut?

Thanks for the help.

There is a way to set Rockbox to automatically update the tagcache. I haven't kept up with the more recent builds, but if you check the wiki manual and/or search the forum you will find out how. I believe it involves setting the directory to always be loaded into memory and choosing automatic tagcache updates. Earlier this worked for files removed and not so well for added files, but I believe that problem was solved. If you can't find instructions on your own searching, post the question on the Rockbox forum, or hope that someone more sharp on this comes along here.

Thanks, that helps a bit. I put RB on my IPOD 3 weeks ago and used a "daily build" which was the latest version I could find.
