I'm using the crossfeed option provided by Rockbox on my iMod: it's great sounding! I have never heard Meier Crossfeed, which is said to be the best one, but Rockbox does a wonderful job, and it's better than Xin Supermini's crossfeed (closer to Mono).

Rockbox crossfeed makes the sound never fatiguing, but retains all the stereo and big soundstage properties. It's a delight.
Do you Rockbox adopter use it? What are your thoughts?

The Meier crossfeed is better imo and I have the same thoughts as you re the Xin Supermini (I used a version IV). The HeadRoom crossfeed is good but with a Micro Amp that I once owned there was added warmth which benefited some headphones such as DT-880 and ER4 (imagine Xins bass boost at 20%).

I have used the Rockbox crossfeed and I like it. I use the settings at their most minimal allowances.

I rate these :

Meier
HeadRoom
Rockbox
Xin

What didn't you like of Rockbox crossfeed? The only downside I can think of is that it can sound slightly warmer. Is it the same with you?

It's been a couple months since I played with crossfeed on my Rockbox'd 5.5G. I do remember liking it but I can't comment on the "warmth" of it compared to the Meier. I could make a fresh comparison between the Rockbox crossfeed and the Meier using my Corda Cross-1 but that will take some cable swapping. The nice thing with the Corda Cross-1 is that it has bass & treble adjustments although it isn't very portable.

It looks like you've never used a Meier amp(home or portable??) in order to experience Jan's crossfeed but I found the crossfeed on my Porta Corda MkIII-USB to be very close to my Corda Cross-1. I'm only guessing that Jan's newer amps have identical crossfeed circuits.

If you've decided that you really like crossfeed I recommend trying a Meier amp of some type.

I wonder if there are any Meier passive crossfeed circuits, the size of a 1/8 adapter.
I have already too many amps on their way to me, so there's no place of one by Meier, at this time.

That I don't know about. I do know that the Meier circuit is fairly simple so maybe a DIY project could be done in a fairly small enclosure.

Check out Meier Audio's site. It's on the sidebar.

I tried the Rockbox crossfeed with my iriver H120 and livewires, and hated it completely. Totally muddied up the sound, and seemed to kill most of the top end.

Not tried it with full size cans, so it might sound better that way, or i might just not be a crossfeed person

Same here, I tried it on my iRiver+D1+PK1 & K401 set and it was awful. There are quite a few settings to play with and I didn't work with it for very long so I might just not know what I'm doing. I like foobar2000's crossfeed, but so far I can't get a good sound out of Rockbox's iRiver crossfeed.

Tony, I was a big fan of Rockbox crossfeed and had my own settings that I thought better than the default. (I did a thread. Let me know if you want me to find it.)

However, it does mulch the trebles. Case in point: The Great Curve on Talking Head's Remain in Light. Bongos go back and forth in the left and right ear. Put on crossfeed, they move forward which is cool but the tone of the bongos is radically altered and not for the better. So I don't use it anymore.

A nice hardware crossfeed like Meier's is purported to be better.
