Does Rockbox allow 5.5 gen ipods to work with ipod control systems in most cars?

Rockbox won't, no... But if you just flip the hold switch before you plug it in then it will load the ipod firmware and then interface as normal.

I have a 30gb 5g and an Alpine 9887 head unit as reference in case you cared.

Unless you're talking about the stuff built into your car like Bimmers and whatnot, then I don't know.

Rockbox does not work with the iPod connector on my scion. With stock firmware it works just fine. It's a pioneer system, nots sure if it's custom on scions only though.

If the car deck can play music from standard USB storage, then I don't see why it won't work since Rockbox pretty much treats iPod as a regular storage drive.
