Best open Headphones for rock music out of an iPod? no canalphones.

I use a cmoy out of my protable and the D66 can handle anythig i throw at it.

if you mean THE BEST open can for ROCK evar...well it would be the Grado SR225 for ear splittin' rock, or Alessandro MS-2 for all other rock lol. Both can be driven straight from the ipod, but you might like it more from a line out like a sik din to an amp to the headphone.

I thought they were THE definitive rock cans.

Grados. SR-60 sounds good out of a portable source, especially for rock.

Why not SR 325 or RS-1? Just curious.... I notice a lot of the members on the board seem to think the RS-1 is a step down in sound quality, which makes little sense to me. Anyone care to elaborate?

The RS-1 a step down in cost effectiveness and difficult to system match. The SR-325 is rediculously fatiguing and bright, and almost no other improvement over the sr225 to make that worth putting up with.
