Rme digiface and AKG K701

Hi all,

first post on the forum... found this place looking for info about the AKG K701 headset after trying it the other day (loved them) I am considering trying to find a second hand pair of them but after reading this forum I worry if the digiface (connected by pcmcia card to a laptop) will power it enough to work as it should? When i tried it at the store it was connected to a serious amp so not sure if this is the wisest path. Any advice would be appreciated

Try doing some searches on K701. There are several threads which discuss best amps for K701. Most think an amp (especially tube) brings out the best in the 701's, but there are several who are having success with other options. Do a little homework, and you'll be rewarded.

701s are known around here as a hard to drive can. I think that you will not get the full potential out of the 701 with the digiface, but I have had no exp. with the digiface.

You would be better off investing in one of the amps in the threads mentioned by wfranklin. If you are handy, check the DIY section about the Millet Max amp.
