It has RCA and XLR outputs. Saying XLR is unbalanced is just weird.

I still have no idea what that means.

You need to use the included wall A/C adapter. It does not require USB power and as far as I know cannot run on it.

@alexdemaet76, @gimmeheadroom

In the pro audio world, XLR is only considered balanced if it is digital or specifically stated as balanced from a signal standpoint otherwise it is usually referred to as analogue, hence why it is listed so in the specs.
There are a few sonic & practical reasons why this is so, usually but not limited to reducing SNR, TND, etc & increasing audio signal strength over distance.
But otherwise, from a techincal standpoint, it is balanced physically via the wiring & plug termination.
The are also more technical reasons why there are differences which I suggest you both look into but as this is pro audio gear first, so it doesn't necessarily fit the hifi/audiophile definition.

Hope this makes sense.

Hope you both have a great day !

Searching for update(s) on firmware for the Adi 2 pro (without remote control).
Seems there is no page anymore for the Adi 2 pro without remote?
So can I install the firmware of the newer Adi 2 pro (with remote) on the older Adi 2 pro?

Got a Grado PS1000e terminated to balanced (Moon Audio) since this weekend.
Sounds really great! Really brings you so close to the music.
This is a lovely song (Marvin Gaye - I heard it to the Grapevine). Really nice bass!

I’m using the RME ADI-2 PRO 2 FS with my Sony Walkman docked with the Sony BCR-NWH10 Cradle - USB in to RME. Sound really good with my Beyerdynamic T1 MK2 in balanced (using XLR to 6.3 twin balanced adapter) on high power. Plenty of headroom re-powering the T1s. I’m also using Focal Utopia balanced as well on low power. Excellent portable Bedside solution. I fully intend to use it with computer desktop once I move from temporary digs. This system punches well past its asking price and is only bettered by my (in storage) GSX-MK2 & Mirus Pro dac combo which is the best system I’ve yet heard - might even rival the Chord Dave.

Anyone knows if the ADI-2 Pro FS R can work as a DSP?
i.e. USB in >>> DSP >>> optical out to another DAC
Reading the manual it seems possible but can't be sure. Would all the digital features (EQ, filters, analyser etc.) still function this way?
